Further Education Minister John Hayes recently visited Liverpool Community College (LCC) to find out more about its pioneering work in partnership with the business community in Liverpool, helping young people get into careers with long-term prospects.

The college has been involved in a number of key projects with businesses, recently piloting the Work Academy; the programme is partnered with Wates Construction, offering candidates a training scheme, work placement at Wates and a guaranteed job interview with Wates and other local contractors at the end of course. Following the success of the pilot, other Work Academies are being rolled out across the country.
